B Leader bio

With a background in business development, social enterprise and innovation I have worked across sectors with partners in the UK and Europe to create positive change. Bringing experience of innovating business models, delivering incubators and accelerators, building partnerships, developing networks, and creating social change projects, I love learning, making connections and finding solutions that work for everyone. I am also Co-Chair of the Yorkshire B Local and Guest Lecturer on the University of Bradford MBA programme.

In 2020 I founded Make Impact to help forward-thinking SMEs to make their business a force for good by living their values, standing for what they believe in and becoming a remarkable company that staff want to work for and customers want to buy from. We provide a range of services to help you wherever you are on your journey including exploring business for good, strategy, B Corp Certification and impact projects with a specialism in Impact Business Models and Theory of Change.

We take a strategic approach to supporting you through the B Corp Certification process, helping you to understand your business in the context of becoming a B Corp and aligning it business opportunities to help you to become a better business and grow.

THE PROCESS

We work with you, guiding you through the process, providing clarity, expertise and ideas so you can make informed decisions that are right for your business and confidently submit your application to certify. We do this by working together through three stages:

1. Assess – Check you are on the right ‘track’, find out if you have an Impact Business Model (IBM) and help you interpret the questions to get your baseline score.

2. Research – Help to engage your staff and customers to find out what areas of impact improvement matter most to them to ensure the actions you take are meaningful.

3. Plan – Create an improvement plan with inspiring actions that are aligned with stakeholder priorities and business opportunities.

Once we have completed your improvement plan, we can also provide optional support to help you put it into action and go through the verification process.

ABOUT MAKE IMPACT

These are some of our core beliefs that are key to our approach.

> It has to be meaningful – We are not about ticking boxes for the sake of it or spinning a story. For us it is about creating meaningful impact that matters to everyone involved.

> We won’t do it all for you – We work with you in partnership providing clarity, expertise and support so you can live it, own it, act on it and inspire others to do the same.

> There is no purpose without profit – There has to be a balance. We build your business goals into all of our work to maximise opportunities for both impact and growth. We want to see companies that do Business for Good growing, creating more impact and inspiring their industries to change.

We work across the UK but are based in Yorkshire where we are building a B Local community with B Corps and B Leaders Darkwoods Coffee, Equinox Kombucha, Harrogate Water, V&V Sustainability Consultancy and Cirrus HR.

"Fiona was knowledgeable, super helpful and went above and beyond to help support our journey. Thank you Fiona" - FactoryLux

"We always wanted it to go a lot deeper than just the checklist. We wanted to work with somebody who could support us much more holistically and make sure the time we were putting into getting B Corp Certification was going to be money well spent - to have a strategy that was focusing on Business for Good throughout every aspect of how we worked. It saved a massive amount of time, and has given us more confidence in actually pressing go and submitting the assessment.” - North Star Coffee Roasters
