I am a freelance consultant, specialising in helping companies be a force for good in the world. My early career as a management consultant for PwC - working in strategic change, culture and leadership development - gave me a good grounding in “conventional business” and it became increasingly clear to me during my time there that I wanted to work with organisations that did things differently. After an MSc in Responsible Business Practice at Bath University, I left the corporate world and spent several years in the not-for-profit sector, running leadership programmes before switching track and embarking on a “deep dive” into environmental sustainability and consulting. A highlight of this work was being a member of the award-winning London 2012 sustainability team – helping the London Olympics and Paralympics break new ground in setting standards for sustainable events.
In the last 10 years I have returned to business consulting – focusing particularly on organisations who want to become more purpose driven, who wish to innovate and radically change their business practices in the pursuit of sustainability. B Corp arrived in the UK in 2015 and I worked for B Lab during 2016 and 2017 to help spread the word about the movement and to develop training for people who wanted to support companies to certify. I was a member of the first cohort of B Leaders - consultants trained to support companies complete the BIA and navigate the certification process.
I now focus my work on helping companies to introduce and ramp up sustainable practices, looking on their purpose, culture and values as well as their operations. I am working with an ever-increasing number of businesses who wish to become B Corps, helping them to develop and implement improvement plans that will enable them to meet the rigorous B Corp standards, and supporting them through the entire certification journey and beyond.
