B Leader bio

I spent a couple of decades in corporate affairs, leading teams in multinationals on all aspects of communications and governmental relations.

My lightbulb moment came at PepsiCo. Faced with significant external pressures, reflecting changing societal expectations of food and drink businesses, visionary leaders at the time chose to step forward with a series of sustainability commitments to transform the business. They recognized that the business needed to change the way it made its money not just how it was spent the money through CSR programmes which were common at the time.

My role was to launch those groundbreaking commitments and, critically, govern their implementation.

That’s inspired me to work with businesses who accept their role in society and want to play their part in addressing societal challenges. I help businesses understand and respond to society’s expectations of them to deliver both financial and social value.

Having completed the Business Sustainability course at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership, I trained as a B Leader to support businesses in using the B Impact Assessment as a framework to both understand and improve their impact, as well as a potential route to certification. With fellow B Leaders and local B Corps, I co-founded the Oxfordshire+ B Local to promote B Corps in the region and spread best practice among existing and aspiring B Corps.

"Sally delivered three really helpful workshops for us, taking us through the detail of the 5 pillars of the B Impact Assessment as well as sense checking our team’s Action Plan to get us to the 80+ points required to certify. She made sure we were basing our Action Plan on a good understanding of each section of the BIA as well as providing some really helpful options to improve our Action Plan plus tips/techniques on project managing what is a rigorous process".

“I started working with Sally in June as I sought to understand whether and how I might build B Corp principles and certification into my business from the start. She has provided valuable advice helping me understand the essentials of the B Impact Assessment, the importance of the Impact Business Models, where I might score well and the areas which are less relevant to a sole proprietor. She also introduced me to another B Corp certified coach in Canada who was hugely helpful in reassuring me about certifying as a sole proprietor".
