Originally from Germany and bi-lingual, I have spent the last eighteen years making Abel & Cole, the organic food home delivery business, a leader in the field of sustainability, most prominently so in the role of Head of Sustainability between August 2019 and July 2023.
In my role at Abel & Cole, I was a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences, most recently co-chairing the Food and Drinks Innovation and Trends Conference in London. Having led the B Corp certification at Abel & Cole in 2018 and re-certification in 2021, I was also co-chair of the B Corp Food Waste Working Group for which I organised and led a day of discussion and volunteering earlier this year at The Felix Project in London.
I am a strong believer that with engagement comes opportunity and enjoy building relationships with others. Through collaboration, over the past few years, I have developed Abel & Cole’s carbon forecasting tool and public-facing, SBTi validated reduction targets, spearheaded the hard-to-recycle Plastic Pick-up collection scheme, improved the B Corp score by 17% and reduced food waste by 66%.
I have also led the implementation of Abel & Cole's “One Box: One Portion” donation campaign in January 2022, which consists of Abel & Cole donating one portion of organic fruit or vegetables to one of three partner charities - The Felix Project, School Food Matters and Dons Local Action Group – for every box of fruit and vegetables sold. This Spring the campaign reached the one million portion milestone.
I thrive on understanding complex issues and presenting them in such a way that all stakeholders can understand, regardless of their level of involvement in the subject matter. My Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership (CISL) course entitled “Towards Net Zero Emissions”, which I completed in 2022, has further deepened my knowledge on the topic of carbon reduction strategies and implementation.
